Chapter Chair's Report
Dear ASIS Columbus Chapter Members,
It was great to see so many new faces, as well as some we hadn't seen in a while, at the January luncheon. What a great way to set a positive tone for the year ahead!
As we move into February, I encourage each of you to mark your calendars for this month's luncheon. We are dedicated to making every event meaningful, and this month will be no exception. The lineup of speakers and topics we have scheduled for the remainder of the year promises to be both informative and interesting, covering a wide range of subjects to benefit our professional and personal development.
Your participation is what makes these events a success. Beyond the opportunity to learn and grow, these gatherings are a chance to connect with peers, share insights, and strengthen our professional network. Each meeting, seminar, and luncheon is a building block in the foundation of our chapter's success and its contribution to the global ASIS community. So, whether you're a long-standing member or new to our chapter, your presence adds immense value. Let's continue to build on the positive momentum from January, supporting one another and advancing our mission.
I look forward to seeing many more of you at our upcoming luncheon and throughout the exciting year we have planned.
Warmest regards,
Scott R Wolford CPP, ACC

Monthly Meeting Recap
Our speaker for the January 18th 2024 meeting at Bravo was Erin Butler with ALERT MEDIA who spoke about Crisis Communication and Emergency Preparedness. Erin has five years’ experience advising organizations about threats, travel violence risks and protecting their data systems.
Some current threats she mentioned included internal employee violence and events in the middle east and Ukraine. In addition, Billions of dollars of threats or damage caused by weather events. Sharing human intelligence with employees is important and all data provided to staff must be double checked before release because of damage caused by misinformation.
She encouraged companies to have emergency plans and emergency communication plans; noting that employees feel safer when provided more information and openness about events that have already occurred. Note the meeting was well attended by 32 ASIS members.
